1. Sedition Act 1948Posting something that has a seditious tendency- for instance, inciting hatred against the Goverment or the administration of justice;or inciting racial unrest.
2. Internal Security Act 1960
Where a person is detained to prevent him from acting in any manner prejudicial to the security of Malaysia-as used against blogger Raja Petra Kamaruddin
3. DefamationIn general, defamation occurs when a statement soils the reputation of another person. There are two types- civil defamation under the Defamation Act 1957; and criminal defamation under Section 499 of the Penal Code
4. Copyright InfringementThis is where the work of another is reproduced in any form without the consent of the owner. It can apply to music, film, writings, photography etc.
5. Communications and Multimedia Act 1998Sect 211 of the Act prohibits the provision of offensive content, while S233 provides for improper use of network facilities, which basically covers all manner of online activity
6. Penal CodeVarious sections apply, covering distribution of obscene materials, cheating and criminal intimidation.
